Getting Started in
Superkarting
OK, you’re convinced you
want to do this (aren’t you?). Of course you are!
So here’s what you need to
do to get underway, the steps are straightforward, and all the links to
the necessary documents are here. But if you need help, just contact the
Club Executive Members and ask for guidance.
The first step is to apply for your CAMS
licence.
- Join the club - the first critical
step is that you need to be a member of a CAMS affiliated club to apply
for your CAMS licence. So since you are interested in Superkarting and
live in NSW, our club will fill this need nicely!
Club
Membership Application form - Don't forget to check race number
availability on the race number
register when you complete your number choices.
- Review the CAMS Application information
– the CAMS website offers some useful information for new licence
applicants, so take the time to read through the New Competitor
Information page.
- Dowload the
CAMS Licence Application
and Information Pack
- Get a CAMS Medical – your new
licence application needs a full medical from a
CAMS approved physician,
found on pages 7-8 in the Application Form. Take these pages to the
doctor. A list of CAMS approved doctors is found on the CAMS website.
Shop around as prices can vary a lot and not covered under Medicare.
- Apply for your CAMS Licence – fill
out the CAMS National Licence Application form. You are applying for a PSK licence.
- Submit your Application Form, Medical
declaration and payment to CAMS.
Now that you have submitted your CAMS licence
application, you get your machine registered in your name …
- Have your machine undergo Targeted
Scrutiny or Pre-Logbook inspection if these have not been done (contact
us if this is the case).
- If you have bought a new machine, you need
to submit the
Logbook
Application Form to CAMS. Please review the information pack about
the logbook application and having a Pre-Race inspection. Contact the
club about arranging your Pre-Race inspection.
- If you have bought a used machine, make
sure the Logbook Transfer
Application Form has been signed by the previous owner. If the
machine hasn’t been raced in a while, it’s probably a really good idea
to have it inspected as well.
- Take the Logbook and Transfer form to the
CAMS office (Homebush) and have the change of ownership registered in
the logbook
OK, your licence
application is submitted, and you’ve got your logbook sorted out. While
you’re waiting for your CAMS licence to arrive …
- Come along to the club meetings at Ryde
Eastwood Leagues Club to meet with other club members and discuss your
plans/ambitions/fantasies with them. The Club Meetings are the first
Wednesday of the month (excluding January). Meetings start at 8pm, but
many members arrive early to have a nice meal in the Bistro.
- Get ready to practice and/or race!
Download the
New Member Welcome Kit and start
reading. It contains a lot of information to help you get ready for Race
Day.
Don’t forget … the club is
here to make sure you have a good time. If you have any questions – ask
someone for help! After all, the people who run the club also race, so we
are passionate about the sport and having a fun time while participating
in it.
